This Was Never Meant to JUST be a Transaction

This Was Never Meant to JUST be a Transaction

This was never just about selling bread. It’s about connection—getting to know my customers, being part of their routines and celebrations, and creating something that feels personal from start to finish.

When I started baking for other people, it was never really about just selling bread.

Of course I want what I make to taste good. That part matters.

But what matters just as much—maybe more—is the connection behind it.

💬 I want to know the people I bake for

I don’t want this to feel like placing an order with a business and moving on.

I want to know my customers. I want them to know me.

As time goes on and customers continue to come back, I start to recognize names, orders, and patterns.

I notice when something looks a little different—like it’s not the day someone usually orders, or they picked something they don’t normally get.

Sometimes that means I can catch things before it’s too late—like if the shape they chose isn’t what they usually order, or a flavor includes something they normally stay away from.

It’s a small thing, but it’s part of how I can take better care of the people I’m baking for.

And that matters to me.

🧺 I want to be part of your life, not just your order

I think about where this bread is going.

A quiet morning at home. A dinner table. A weekend with family. Something shared.

And I hope that over time, this bakery becomes something you think of when you’re planning those moments.

Not just “I need bread”
but
“I know where I want to get it.”

🌾 I want to listen and grow with you

One of the things I love most about keeping this bakery small is that I can actually pay attention.

I’m starting to see what people get excited about. What sells out first. What people come back for.

And that helps me be more intentional when I plan what to bake next.

Not just what I feel like making—but what I think people will really enjoy.

📱 I want you to be part of the process too

This isn’t something I want to keep at a distance.

I share a lot of this along the way—on Instagram, on Facebook, and through updates from my website.

The wins, the days when everything comes together perfectly.

And the days when it doesn’t. The bakes that go sideways, the moments that don’t go as planned.

I want people to be able to laugh with me through those moments, celebrate the wins, and share in the excitement when things go right.

And also the parts that matter beyond the bread—like when I’m able to donate to a fundraiser or bake in a way that helps support people experiencing food insecurity.

Because that’s part of this too.

It’s a way to stay connected, to see what I’m baking, and to be part of it as this continues to grow.

💛 Why this matters to me

There are easier ways to do this.

Faster ways. Bigger ways. More efficient ways.

But this is the part I want to hold onto as I grow.

Getting to know the people I bake for. Being part of their routines, their tables, their celebrations.

Being able to care—not just about the bread, but about the people receiving it.

At the end of the day, this was never meant to be just a transaction.

And I hope it never feels like one.
